Chris Smith

Chris Smith was nominated again this year for "Best Male Vocalist" for the 2009 Canadian Smooth Jazz Awards up against artists like Michael Buble and Diana Krall.Chris is about to release his fourth CD entitled,"Let The Ball Roll”. Chris’s third CD,"Back To You" has garnered much attention since it's recent release.

“Back To You” embraces some traditional elements of jazz combined with Chris' sultry vocals and great songwriting. “Back To You” follows on the heels of “Real Thing”, released in 2004, which featured a Number 1 song on Canada's premier Smooth Jazz station “Wave 94.7 FM” for an unprecedented 5 straight weeks. “Right Here, Right Now” featured Warren Hill on sax, who also appeared on Chris' debut release “Room Inside My Heart”.

Chris' first claim to fame was winning Toronto's Q107 Homegrown competition with a band called “Regatta”, which subsequently signed an international record deal with BMG. Chris formed “Regatta” with Matthew Gerrard, another success story who now resides in Los Angeles. Regatta was a successful Canadian rock band but Chris knew his future was to embrace jazz and pop. When Chris released “Room Inside My Heart”, produced by Matthew Gerrard, it was the beginning of a solo career. It led to Chris working with Greg Kavanagh and his label Boardwalk Records to produce Chris's latest CD “Back To You” as well as the previous, “Real Thing”.

Currently living in Mississauga, just outside Toronto, Chris is doing what he loves best, making music for the world to enjoy. It does not get any better than that!
